In this presentation, I will provide an in-depth analysis of two popular technologies for building web applications on mobile devices: Progressive Web Apps (PWA) and WebView. We will closely examine their differences, offline mode implementation options, and performance, as well as the key advantages and disadvantages of each technology. I will explain why they should not be directly compared and highlight the unique features of each that should be taken into account.
Special attention will be given to the use of Service Workers for enabling offline functionality and the possibilities of local storage for mobile applications in environments with limited network connectivity. We will also address UX considerations to determine which technology is best suited for providing a seamless user experience.
Furthermore, I will share my personal experience developing offline functionality for the "Calendar" project using WebView. I will discuss approaches to data storage and ensuring app availability in offline conditions.
This presentation will be useful for frontend developers and mobile specialists looking for the right technology to create web applications with offline capabilities. It will also benefit those working with mobile devices who are seeking solutions for effective data storage and availability in conditions of limited or no network access.
